JERUSALEM (AP) - A spokesman for ex-Premier Ehud Olmert says tests show his prostate cancer has worsened, and he needs immediate treatment.

A statement from the spokesman, Amir Dan, said Olmert had medical tests in the United States. They showed that the tumor in his prostate gland has grown. The Sunday statement said it “requires immediate treatment.”

It said a decision on treatment would be made as soon as Olmert returns from the U.S. Options include radiation, surgery or a combination.

Olmert is 63. He made his prostate cancer condition public in October 2007. A year later he announced his resignation over multiple corruption allegations. Olmert left the premiership after the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took office on March 31.
