JUNEAU, ALASKA (AP) - The gavel has fallen on the first session of the 26th Alaska Legislature.

The House and Senate adjourned Sunday evening and won’t reconvene until Jan. 19.

Lawmakers passed a state budget and little else during their 90-day session. They accepted virtually Alaska’s entire share of the federal stimulus money, concluding it carried minimal strings.

Hours before adjournment lawmakers and Gov. Sarah Palin settled their clash over filling Juneau’s vacant senate seat with the appointment and swearing in of former Juneau Mayor Dennis Egan.

Left on the table for next year were several of the governor’s top priorities. Those include work to advance an in-state natural gas pipeline, a natural gas tax and a plan to consolidate six power utilities into a single corporation.
