NEW YORK

David Letterman has dived right into material on Tiger Woods on the “Late Show,” joking that he wishes the golfer would stop asking him for advice.

Mr. Letterman kicked off his monologue Monday with the subject of Mr. Woods, even though the late-night host is just weeks removed from his own scandal.

“Boy, it looks like that Tiger Woods is having some trouble, huh?” Mr. Letterman said.

In October, the comedian and CBS host admitted to workplace affairs police say led to a blackmail plot. Mr. Woods last week admitted letting his family down with “transgressions” that became known following a Thanksgiving weekend car crash outside his Florida home.

Mr. Letterman asked the audience members to clap if they thought Mr. Woods was a “jerk.” Then Mr. Letterman asked them to clap if they thought he was a jerk.

Some clapped for each.
