Lyon Park is one of Lyon Park Civic Association hosts numerous craft and family festivals and has become famous for its annual Halloween bonfire party.

Although the neighborhood offers a peaceful haven away from the city, it also has an ideal location within walking distance of the Tysons Corner.

A light-filled Colonial-style home at 808 N. Cleveland St. is on the market for $1,149,900. Built just 10 years ago, it has been improved with professional landscaping in the front yard and backyard; stylish window treatments, including plantation shutters; and upgraded bathrooms with vessel-style sinks. The owners say they love the friendly neighborhood and being able to walk just five blocks to the Metro station to commute downtown.

Designed for both formal and informal living, this home has French doors and transom windows that allow light to filter throughout the home from multiple oversized windows. The outside of this charming home provides space for enjoying spring and summer breezes and enables children and pets to play in a safe environment. A white picket fence completely encloses both the front yard and the backyard. Wood steps lead from the flagstone front walk to a wood front porch with columns. The backyard has a small deck for holding the barbecue grill and grassy areas for children to play.

Although ample street parking is available, this home also has an oversized, detached one-car garage and a driveway that can hold five cars.

Inside, the foyer and hall have hardwood floors that match the wood stairs leading to the upper level. The two-story hall is filled with light from a window along the stairwell wall.

At the front of the home is the formal living room, which has windows on two sides, including a bump-out window with a window seat. The living room has crown moldings and recessed lighting along with a half wall with four columns, which separates this room from the formal dining room.

The dining room features crown, chair-rail and shadow-box moldings and a modern chandelier with a ceiling medallion. French doors with a transom window lead into the adjacent kitchen.

The kitchen has been updated with recessed lights, gourmet appliances and a gleaming black granite counter. The stainless steel appliances include an ultraquiet dishwasher, a built-in microwave, a gas range and a wine cooler. The shining white cabinets are enhanced with a built-in wine rack. The kitchen includes a breakfast bar, which is linked with the family room.

In one corner of the family room, closest to the kitchen, a home office has been created with a built-in desk and cabinets that match the kitchen cabinets. The desk has a black granite top. Both the kitchen and the family room have oak floors. The focal point for the family room is an oversized gas fireplace, which has an ornate oak mantel and a granite hearth and surround. The family room features a glass door to the backyard, recessed lighting, crown moldings, a ceiling fan and plantation shutters on the two walls of windows.

The main level also has a powder room with oak floors, a pedestal sink and a window.

Upstairs, the master suite overlooks the back garden through a large triple window with a transom above. The bedroom includes a cathedral ceiling, recessed lighting and a ceiling fan. The walk-in closet, like all the other closets in the home, has California Closets organizers. The luxurious master bath features ceramic tile floors, a large soaking tub set under a window, a walk-in shower with a glass door and a cherry vanity with a granite counter and two modern vessel-style sinks.

The second bedroom, located at the front of the home, features double windows overlooking the front garden and a walk-in closet. The third bedroom includes a double-size closet. These two rooms share a hall bath with ceramic tile floors and a window.

The upper level also includes a laundry closet with a heavy-duty washing machine and an electric dryer.

The finished lower level is divided into two spaces. The first section is a large recreation room with two closets, a perfect space for a music or media room.

At the back of this level is an apartment, which can function as a legal rental unit if registered with the Arlington County government. It also works well as an in-law or au-pair suite or simply as extra living space.

The apartment has its own outside entrance and walkway to the street. It contains an open living and dining room, a fully equipped kitchen with oak cabinets and a dishwasher, and a double-size storage closet adjacent to the kitchen. A stacked washer and dryer are in another closet that is next to the kitchen.

The apartment also includes a large bedroom with a walk-in closet and a full bath.

This home offers the presence of a traditional Colonial-style home with the modern touches of light-filled, open rooms with high ceilings and oversized windows. While residents will be tempted to spend time in nearby Clarendon, they will be hard-pressed to leave the fireside in winter or the front porch in summer.
