The 911 call for Michael Jackson, who died Thursday in Los Angeles, reveals the pop superstar was unconscious and not responding to CPR when the call was made at about 3:21 p.m. EDT.

“I need a doctor right away,” says the caller in an urgent but controlled voice. “I have a gentleman here who needs help. … He’s not breathing. He’s not conscious.”

The male caller also says the patient, whom he identifies only as a 50-year-old male, was lying on bed and being treated by a personal physician when the call was placed.

The 911 operator told the caller to put Mr. Jackson on the floor and start CPR.

“We have a personal doctor here and [Mr. Jackson] is not responding to anything,” the caller said, according to a tape of the call to the Los Angeles fire department.

“He’s pumping his chest and he’s not responding to anything,” the caller says before urging the operator to hurry to the home.

“Sir. please,” he says. “Thank you.”

The operator responded by saying emergency medical technicians were on the way.

The technicians arrived minutes later and worked on Mr. Jackson for about 40 minutes before taking him to the UCLA Medical Center where doctors worked on him for about an hour. He died at 5:26 p.m. EDT.
