How did you get started in real estate? I’ve been interested in real estate my whole life.

How long have you been with the current company? 7 years

Licenses and designations: Licensed in the District, Maryland and Virginia; certified EcoBroker

Greatest accomplishment in the past 12 months: I earned the certified EcoBroker designation. This gives me specialized knowledge about a variety of issues involving environmental concerns as they relate to buying or selling real estate.

Part of the benefit of this training is that it points out ways to save money using energy-efficient products and services. When it’s good for the wallet and the environment, it’s a win-win situation!

Area of specialty: I primarily work through referrals.

Highest-priced home sold: $2,000,000

Most memorable house: I spotted an abandoned town home in the area my client wanted. I found out who owned it, contacted them and negotiated the sale. The property had missing chunks of roof, walls bulging with water damage and a basement so scary I sent the inspector in alone to find whatever lurked down there.

Worst experience buying or selling a house: I was the buyer’s representative, and the seller tried to extort more money at the settlement table.

My client had a pre-settlement occupancy agreement, but the seller called the police to try to have my client arrested for trespassing! That failed, and, after a harrowing week, the deal went through per the terms and price of the contract.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in art history from Duke University, 1979; master’s degree in social work from Boston University in 1984

Community service/outside interests: I run a networking group made up of individuals from a variety of professions.

Environmental issues, especially as they pertain to real estate, interest me. I also love to go out with my ocean kayak. I am a rock climber and have enjoyed climbing in the United States and Wales, right on the ocean cliffs.

Last book read: “Stormy Weather” by Carl Hiaasen

Last movie seen: “Burn After Reading”

Describe your personal dream house: There’s not enough space or time here to do that!
