VIENNA (AP) - World Cup ski jump champion Gregor Schlierenzauer was ruled out for two months after undergoing surgery on his right knee Thursday.

The 19-year-old Austrian tore a collateral ligament after crashing during offseason equipment tests in Ramsau on Wednesday, the Austrian ski federation said.

Schlierenzauer’s preparations for the Olympic season would not be hampered, Austria head coach Alexander Pointner said.

Schlierenzauer became the first ski jumper to win 13 World Cup events and score more than 2,000 points in a season earlier this month.
