ARCHITECTURE, CONSTRUCTION & ENGINEERING

Eric Ofei joined Professional Service Industries Inc., a Fairfax engineering and testing firm, as a project engineer. Mr. Ofei earned a bachelor’s degree in geological engineering from the University of Science and Technology in Ghana and a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Maryland.

• Professional Service Industries Inc. of Fairfax hired Snigdha Yerramilli as a staff engineer. Ms. Yerramilli earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Osmania University in Hyderabad, India, and a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Nevada.

Kun Zhang joined Group Goetz Architects PC of the District as a senior project architect.

FINANCE



• Rockville mortgage lender Mason Dixon Funding Inc. hired Anna Ortel as its director of operations. She replaces Roshan Alavi, who was promoted to senior vice president of operations.

Ms. Ortel has close to 20 years of experience in residential mortgage lending with employers including Fannie Mae in the District and Aurora Loan Services and Countrywide Home Loans, both in Gaithersburg. Ms. Alavi, who has worked for Mason Dixon for 12 years, will be responsible for coordinating business and marketing activities of the company’s offices outside the Washington area.

LEGAL

• Former D.C. Mayor Anthony A. Williams joined Arent Fox LLP’s Washington office, where he will lead a new practice dedicated to state and municipal finance and management. In 2007, Mr. Williams helped found and served as chief executive of Primum Public Realty Trust, which provided counties, cities, states and nonprofit corporations with alternative funding sources. Mr. Williams is a graduate of Harvard Law School.

• Duane Morris LLP announced that John N. Maher, former general counsel of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, rejoined the firm’s Chicago office as a partner in its intellectual property practice group.

PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

Hugo Teufel III, former chief privacy officer for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, joined PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Tysons Corner office. He will advise clients on privacy compliance, security and identity-theft assessment and risk-management strategies.

• SRC Inc., formerly Syracuse Research Corp., hired Joanne Shumaker as federal market account director. Before joining SRC, Ms. Shumaker was president of SciTech Services Inc. and a principal at Booz Allen Hamilton. She will work out of SRC’s Hanover, Md., office.

Justin Mahlmann, a principal of Bowman Consulting Group Ltd. of Chantilly, was named managing director of Bowman Geothermal. Mr. Mahlmann has more than 15 years of engineering experience, including stints as branch manager of Bowman’s Prince William office and as a regional vice president of the consulting firm.
