NEW YORK (AP) - Al-Jazeera English (Qatar) has been nominated for an International Emmy in the news category for its coverage from both sides during the Gaza War in January 2009.

Other nominees include Russia’s RT Channel for its coverage of President Barack Obama’s July 2009 visit to Russia; Britain’s Sky News for its reporting from the Taliban-controlled Swat Valley in Pakistan, and Brazil’s TV Globo for its in-depth look at the November 2009 blackout that affected 60 million Brazilians.

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences on Wednesday also announced that TV programs from Hong Kong, Britain, Canada and Argentina had been nominated for the International Emmy for current affairs.
