ANALYSIS/OPINION:

“Mainstreaming abortion on-base” by Cathy Cleaver Ruse (Commentary, Aug. 11) was an eye-opener, and I commend The Washington Times for publishing it.

As our country becomes more pro-life, we need to be made aware of sneaky things Sen. Roland W. Burris, Illinois Democrat, added to the National Defense Authorization Act. Mr. Burris’ amendment would overturn the current law by allowing elective abortions to be performed in military hospitals and clinics.

My husband is a retired Air Force officer, and we are a military family who has appreciated the medical services and care given to us. The federal government should not be permitted to fund elective abortions with taxpayer money for something the taxpayers abhor.

No one has the right to kill anyone else. Therefore, there is no right to on-base abortion.
