Ellicott City, Md., features a charming historic downtown with cafes, antique shops, restaurants, art galleries and an eclectic mix of stores. Perhaps this is one reason a number of active adult communities have been built in the area.

Active adult communities, limited to households with members age 55 and older, are designed to keep pre-retirees and retirees physically and mentally fit with a variety of activities within the development and nearby.

Williamsburg Homes is building 64 town homes with two-car garages at the Enclave at Ellicott Station, an active adult community developed by Hebron Manor LLC, an affiliate of Williamsburg Homes. Residents of Ellicott Station are close to downtown Ellicott City, the Mall in Columbia, the Enchanted Forest shopping center and Long Gate center.

Within the Enclave at Ellicott Station, residents can enjoy nature trails and a community clubhouse with a fitness room, a meeting and card room, a kitchenette, and a gathering room with a coffered ceiling and a fireplace. Formal and informal gatherings can be organized in the clubhouse along with community-sponsored events.

The homes at the Enclave at Ellicott Center are base-priced from the low to upper $400,000s and have three or four bedrooms with two or three full baths and a powder room. Each home has approximately 2,170 to 2,650 finished square feet. Buyers can add a brick front, an elevator and a finished lower level to each home.

Standard features include maintenance-free beaded vinyl siding, an exterior coach light, a two-car garage and a level entry stoop. Inside, each home has hardwood flooring in the kitchen, family room, foyer and powder room; oak stairs; 9-foot ceilings on the main level; crown and chair-rail molding; a gas fireplace; four-panel interior doors; high-tech wiring; ceramic tile flooring in the full baths; a luxury master bath with a soaking tub and separate shower; and a center-island kitchen with 42-inch oak or maple cabinets, granite counters and stainless steel appliances.

The Ellicott model, with 2,509 to 2,651 finished square feet, has a front porch leading into a two-story foyer. Just off the foyer is a formal dining room. The back of the home features an open design with a center-island kitchen and family room with a fireplace. This model has a laundry room and powder room on the main level.

The first-floor master suite includes a walk-in closet and a luxury bath with a double-sink vanity, a soaking tub and a separate shower.

Upstairs, this home has an open loft in the center, a second bedroom with a walk-in closet, a third bedroom, a home office with a closet, a full bath and an unfinished storage room.

An optional second-floor plan includes a second master suite with a luxury bath and a walk-in closet, a central loft with a storage closet, a third bedroom with a walk-in closet, a third full bath and a home office.

Buyers can finish the lower level with a craft room, full bath, a recreation room and a storage room.

Buyers can receive $5,000 toward closing costs with the use of a Williamsburg Homes-approved lender and Lakeside Title.
