PASADENA, CALIF. (AP) - David Beckham hopes to return to the Los Angeles Galaxy next month.

The 35-year-old English midfielder tore his left Achilles’ tendon on March 14 while on loan to AC Milan in a Serie A match against Chievo Verona.

Speaking Saturday on the Fox Soccer Channel during the pregame show before the Galaxy’s exhibition against Real Madrid, Beckham said he saw a doctor earlier in the day and that an October return was projected.

“Two or three weeks before that,” Beckham said he responded. “It’s just about getting strength back in my calf.”

The Galaxy close the MLS regular season Oct. 24, and the MLS Cup is scheduled for Nov. 21.
