Although Joel Mowbray is rightly pessimistic about the likelihood of changing Palestinian culture, given the hate-filled indoctrination fed to the schoolchildren in the territories, there are even more fundamental reasons to be dispirited about the prospects for peace in the Middle East (“Peace will come when Palestinians want it,” Commentary, Dec. 9).

For example, the Palestinian Authority’s president, Mahmoud Abbas, is a Holocaust denier, having written his thesis on the subject. More recently, the Palestinian Authority commissioned a study purporting to prove that there never was a Jewish temple on the Temple Mount - a sad attempt to show that the Jewish connection to the Holy Land is actually of fairly recent vintage.
