How did you get started in real estate? I had been working in West Africa and realized it was time for a change, as I didn’t want to travel for years to come. I decided it was time to apply myself to real estate, something that had always interested me.
How long with the current company? I joined Pardoe Real Estate 20 years ago. It later was sold and became Coldwell Banker about 12 years ago.
Licenses and designations: Associate broker in Maryland, Virginia and the District
Associations: Greater Capital Area Association of Realtors
Greatest accomplishment in the past 12 months: Achieving my best year ever in 2009 despite a “challenging market”
Area of specialty: Ritz-Carlton, Northwest Washington and close-in suburbs
Highest-priced home sold: In the process of doing both sides of a $2,500,000 home sale
Most memorable house: There have been many - perhaps the spectacular 1805 Federal in Georgetown, formerly the home of legendary hostess Evangeline Bruce, which I sold twice, or the more recent resale of a penthouse at the Ritz-Carlton in Georgetown, which was the most expensive apartment ever sold in the District.
Worst experience buying or selling a house: I showed a house to a lady who absolutely loved it - but she became conflicted after she realized it belonged to an old college flame and his wife. There was a lot of drama around her telling her husband about her past, but she did, and they bought it.
Family: One son and his wonderful family
Pets: Ziggy, the “perfect” rescue dog
Education: Bachelor’s degree in political science from Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, N.C. I also studied at the Universite d’Aix-Marseille in Aix-en-Provence, France.
Community service and outside interests: Supporting charities, gardening, historic preservation
Last book read: “Le Chateau de ma Mere” by Marcel Pagnol
Last movie seen: “A Prairie Home Companion”
What kind of car do you drive? Mercedes-Benz hybrid or 1981 Fiat Spider
Describe your personal dream house: My old stone house, perfectly renovated, organized and sparkling clean
