DETROIT (AP) — President Barack Obama will visit the Gulf Coast on Sunday morning for a firsthand update on the massive spill from an offshore oil rig.

Obama will get a briefing on efforts to contain it.

The White House made the announcement as Obama landed in Detroit on his way to the University of Michigan, where he was giving the commencement speech.

Details about the trip are being worked out and a schedule will be announced later.
