DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Md. | Members of the Prince George’s County fire department’s bomb squad have disrupted what officials say appeared to be two explosive devices in the basement of a District Heights home.

Fire department spokesman Mark Brady said Wednesday that the residents of the two story red-brick single family home in the 5800 block of Kentucky Avenue had recently been evicted.

Brady says a real estate agent visiting the home Wednesday afternoon saw what looked like two pipe bombs and notified authorities.

Bomb squad members worked for nearly four hours to disrupt the devices and Brady says a substance inside the devices will be taken to a laboratory to determine whether it is explosive. The investigation into who built the devices and how they came to be in the home is ongoing.
