Creighton Farms, a 1,000-acre private, gated golf-course community in Aldie in Loudoun County, Va., surrounds an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course. The golf course, named one of the best new courses in 2008 by Golf Digest, Golf magazine and Travel + Leisure Golf, is one of an array of recreational amenities in this resort-style community being developed by Southworth Development.

Residents recently have begun moving into Creighton Farms, which has a Golf House with a pro shop and a casual dining restaurant and an adjacent pavilion for outdoor dining; concierge services; a full-service spa; tennis courts; a fitness center; and a children’s activity center. A 34,000-square-foot, three-level clubhouse is under construction.

Creighton Farms is nestled among the vineyards and horse farms that line the picturesque roads linking Aldie, Middleburg and Leesburg, where residents can enjoy antique shops, art galleries, boutiques and restaurants. The community has been designed as a full-service resort and is about an hour from downtown Washington, D.C.

Within Creighton Farms, Apex Custom Homes is building 13 homes on 3-acre sites within a section known as the Enclave. Buyers can choose between wooded and open sites and customize their homes. Each is designed as a low-maintenance residence, enabling owners to spend time on the golf course, at the spa, on the tennis court or strolling the grounds of Creighton Farms. Homeowner association fees are $466 per month. Lot prices range from $644,000 to $798,000 for 3.01 acres to 4.39 acres.

The first three purchasers in the Enclave at Creighton Farms will receive a 15 percent discount on the base price of the home and a 10 percent discount on the lot price.

The French-inspired homes, priced from $1,305,250 to $2,127,098 without the land or discount, will have four sides of brick, stone and stucco, with brick or flagstone front stoops and stone or masonry window accents. The homes will have stone columns with coach lights at the driveway entrance leading to the three-car garage. The grounds will be professionally landscaped.

Inside, each home has been designed with spaces for formal and informal entertaining, with 9- and 10-foot ceilings, hardwood flooring in the living areas and marble and French limestone tiles in the baths, kitchen and laundry room.

Each home has oak stairs with iron or custom-designed wood railings, at least two fireplaces, granite and marble counters in the bathrooms and kitchen and custom-designed cabinetry in cherry, maple, alder, hickory or oak. The homes have elaborate woodwork and trim, including crown molding, chair-rail molding, wainscoting and deep window and door casings.

Each master bath will include a whirlpool tub with rapid water heating and a separate shower. The homes have energy-efficient features and low-E windows, along with a custom-integrated audio-and-video wiring system.

The Villandry model, with 4,850 finished square feet, is base-priced at $1,431,750 without the discount or land included. This home features charming French-style shutters on the exterior, stone-trimmed windows and a stone-faced entry with spires. The main foyer opens to a combined living and family room with a fireplace at one end and an entrance to the library flanked by a powder room and walk-in closet. The library has windows on three sides.

On the opposite side of the foyer are the formal dining room, which has an adjacent china storage closet, a family room with a fireplace, a mudroom and a second powder room near the garage.

At the center of the main level are the center-island kitchen and a breakfast room with French doors and walls of windows. A patio is just outside the breakfast room.

A curving staircase leads from the foyer to the upper level, where the master bedroom and sitting area extend 33 feet from the front of the home to the fireplace at the back of the room. The master suite includes a room-size closet with walls of windows, and a luxurious bath.

The upper level includes two additional bedrooms, each with a private full bath and a walk-in closet. A laundry room completes this level. Buyers can opt for a finished lower level for additional living space.
