Montgomery County police are investigating an apparent murder and suicide involving a Kensington woman and her 13-year-old son, police said Wednesday.

On Tuesday, a co-worker of the woman asked police to check the woman’s home after unsuccessful attempts to contact her for several days, police said.

Inside the home, in the unit block of Simms Court, officers found both Margaret Ferne Jensvold, 54, and her son, Benjamin H. Barnhard, 13, dead. Both were found in their respective bedrooms with “evidence of trauma to their bodies,” according to a statement from the Montgomery County Police Department.

On Wednesday, police said they were still investigating the case and were unable to release any further information about the deaths.
