The neighborhood of West McLean is conveniently close to downtown Washington and Tysons Corner, but many residents love it even more because of the community activities.

Real estate agent Monica Gibson, with Keller Williams Realty in McLean, said West McLean residents gather regularly for a Fourth of July party, an Easter egg hunt in the spring, a miniature corn maze in the fall and holiday parties in the winter.

The home at 1519 Pathfinder Lane, on the market for $1,199,000, rests on a quarter-acre lot in the heart of West McLean. Residents can walk to a shopping center with a grocery store and other shops and restaurants, a library, and McLean Central Park. A bus takes commuters to the West Falls Church Metro station, and a stop on the new Silver Line will be about a mile from this home.

Built in 2005 by Buchanan Price, this home provides an elegant yet warm setting for entertaining and includes a long asphalt drive for guest parking in addition to a two-car garage.

The professionally landscaped property has a paving-stone patio off the breakfast area as well as a level, fully fenced backyard with garden beds and plenty of space for pets or children to romp. A flagstone walkway leads from the driveway to the front door.

Inside are three finished levels with approximately 3,800 finished square feet. The main level and the upper-level hallway have hardwood flooring, and all the rooms have high ceilings and plenty of oversized windows for natural light. The main and upper levels have wood blinds or plantation shutters on all the windows.

The main level has an open floor plan for easy flow when entertaining. The formal living room features a triple window facing the backyard, crown molding and oversized base molding and window trim.

The living room opens into the formal dining room, which has another floor-to-ceiling triple window, crown molding and wainscoting. A French door opposite the dining room leads to the staircase to the lower level, allowing that space to be closed off for quiet if children are playing in the recreation room while the adults socialize upstairs.

Just beyond the dining room are the family room, kitchen and breakfast area, three rooms that open to one another and to the surrounding trees through floor-to-ceiling windows on three sides. All three spaces have hardwood flooring and recessed lighting.

The family room has a natural blue stone gas fireplace with a raised hearth and a stone surround that reaches the ceiling. This fireplace provides warmth and a focal point for the entire kitchen area.

The kitchen includes a granite-topped island, granite counters, solid-wood white cabinets and upgraded stainless steel appliances, including a four-burner gas cooktop, double wall ovens, a side-by-side refrigerator and a dishwasher. The breakfast area has floor-to-ceiling windows facing the side and backyards as well as a glass door to the side patio, which has a stone wall for extra seating during parties.

The main level also has a powder room with hardwood flooring and a pedestal sink.

The main staircase to the upper level includes a niche for art or plants and a tall window for natural light. Double doors open into the master suite from the upper-level hall.

The bedroom and sitting area include a dramatic cathedral ceiling and tall windows on three sides of the room. The suite includes two walk-in closets with built-ins. A second set of double doors opens into the luxurious master bath, which has ceramic tile flooring, a two-person soaking tub set under a wall of windows, a walk-in shower with detailed tile work and a glass enclosure, and a wood vanity with marble counters and two sinks.

The second bedroom overlooks the backyard and has a double-door closet. Two additional bedrooms, each on a corner of the house, include double-door closets and ceiling fans. These three bedrooms share a full bath off the hall with a double-sink vanity and a window.

The upper level also has a laundry room.

The finished lower level offers more space for casual entertaining, overnight guests and storage. The lower level has laminate flooring and a recreation room with a gas fireplace with a floor-to-ceiling natural blue stone surround and a raised stone hearth. This room has recessed lighting and windows on two sides for natural light.

The lower level also has an extra room with a double-door closet and two windows. Across the hall is a full bath with a shower. In addition, this level has several storage closets.
