I have watched as politicians and media entities have gone out of their way to insist that everything about the recent demonstrations in the Middle East has revolved around “democratic reform” and no Islamic agenda is involved.

Perhaps I need to be forgiven for hearing the cries of “Allahu akbar” (“Allah is greatest”) in virtually every media report, often drowning out the individual reporters.

Yet, as the world continually has sought to sanitize the goals of radical Islam, I cannot help but feel that the same politicians and media entities are burying their heads in the sand for political expediency and in service to their own interests.
