SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. (AP) - Cam Newton says his father will be coming to the BCS championship game.

Auburn’s Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback says Cecil Newton and other family members “are going to be loud and proud.” Cecil Newton was involved in a pay-for-play attempt during his son’s recruitment by Mississippi State that resulted in limited access to Auburn’s athletics program.

Cam Newton mostly fielded questions Wednesday about football, his newfound celebrity status and his rise from a junior college national champion to college football’s grandest stage.

Asked for the biggest difference from his first national title game, he waved a hand at the dozens of reporters and cameras surrounding his table and said, “This.”
