How did you get started in real estate? Family business

How long with current company? 10 years

License and designations: Principal broker

Associations: Northern Virginia Association of Realtors, Virginia Association of Realtors, National Association of Realtors

Greatest accomplishment in past 12 months: Marrying my beautiful wife, Jill

What is your area of specialty? Arlington

Most memorable house: I had a listing in North Arlington in which the house had been condemned by the county. It was like something out of a horror movie (floors collapsed, ceiling caved in, etc.). Who said real estate is glamorous?

Worst experience buying or selling a house: The buying and selling of real estate is a very emotional experience for all parties involved, so every deal has its ups and downs, but the worst experiences usually revolve around the financing. I had a listing a few years back in which the settlement was delayed while the lender kept insisting that the financing would be approved the next day. This continued for more than a month while the buyer and seller waited in limbo. Ultimately the lender failed to perform. The house was put back on the market, and fortunately, the seller received an even better offer and settled shortly thereafter, but the buyer was left homeless.

Age: 35

Family: Wife, Jill

Education: Bachelor’s degree in history from Hampden-Sydney College in Hampden Sydney, Va.

Community affiliations: Arlington Optimist Club

Describe your personal dream house: I like traditional homes like Virginia Colonials. Of course, it would need modern updates and a nice yard.
