ARLINGTON, TEXAS (AP) - Brandon Webb likely will not pitch for the Texas Rangers this season after experiencing more pain in his surgically repaired right rotator cuff.

An MRI this week showed some changes in Webb’s shoulder. Another surgery is one of the options being considered by the 2006 NL Cy Young Award winner.

Webb was scratched from a scheduled rehab start for Triple-A Round Rock on Friday night because of shoulder discomfort.

Texas gave Webb a $3 million, one-year contract last winter with hopes that he might be able to join the rotation by midseason.

Webb hasn’t pitched in the majors since the 2009 season opener for Arizona. Before that, he had pitched more than 200 innings in five consecutive seasons for the Diamondbacks.
