Prince George’s County police on Friday arrested a D.C. man in connection with a fatal shooting last month in Capitol Heights.

Steven Donnell Waytes, 26, of the 4200 block of Barnaby Road in Southeast Washington, was arrested in the District and faces first-degree murder charges in connection with the May 27 killing of 34 year-old Jimmie Lee Hunter.

Authorities say Hunter, of the 3700 block of Gull Road in Temple Hills, was fatally shot outside Frank’s Tavern in Capitol Heights. Officers were called to the liquor store in the 1700 block of Kenilworth Avenue around 7:25 p.m. for a report of a shooting. Mr. Hunter died from his wounds at a local hospital.

Police sources said Mr. Hunter had been talking to women in a sport utility vehicle outside the liquor store when he was approached by two people on bicycles who shot him and fled into the District.
