NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Police on Sunday said a gunman opened fire on teenagers attending a party in a New Orleans bar, killing an 18-year-old man and wounding four other teens before fleeing.

Police said in a press release that a 16-year-old girl was in critical condition. Two other girls, ages 14 and 17, and a 15-year-old boy were hospitalized in stable condition. Police said all had gunshot wounds.

Officers said shots erupted late Saturday just before midnight. All five were found in the bar, where the 18-year-old was pronounced dead.

New Orleans police spokeswoman Shereese Harper said the shooting happened during a party for teenagers at the B&L Lounge. The telephone number listed for the lounge rang unanswered Sunday.

Authorities were working to find the shooter and determine a motive.
