LEEDS, ENGLAND (AP) - American defender Eric Lichaj has extended his loan at Leeds from Aston Villa until the end of the season.

The 22-year-old has made seven appearances for the second-tier club since arriving last month.

Leeds manager Simon Grayson says “Eric has done well since he came here. He’s showed his qualities, and he gives us good competition in the right back area.”

The Leeds website says Villa has a 24-hour recall option for Lichaj, who made his U.S. national team debut last fall.

Leeds is fifth in the League Championship in one of the four playoff places, 12 points behind leader Queens Park Rangers.
