LONDON (AP) - Convicted offenders will be use to clean one of the London tube stations expected to be heavily used by visitors to the royal wedding in April.

The plan calls for offenders convicted of minor crimes to be put to work scouring the grimy Hyde Park Corner station in advance of the April 29 wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Officials said Monday the cleanup plan is part of a program that puts offenders to work on local projects to benefit the community.

Thousands are expected to use the station, which is close to Buckingham Palace and the processional route the royal couple will follow.

Officials say detergent and heavy wire brushes will be used for the cleanup.
