How did you get started in real estate? I spent my earlier years out of college doing marketing and communications on government contracts, and after more than five years, I was burned out from all the uphill battles I had to face trying to get my target audiences to accept and acclimate to the new products we were introducing. Loving the concept of my work and being uber-organized, I decided to explore other career options that would blend marketing, working closely with clients and having a “product” that people actually wanted - and I loved houses - so real estate it was to be!
How long with the current company? Since October 2007
Licenses and designations: Licensed in the District, Virginia and Maryland; working toward becoming accredited buyer representative, certified residential specialist and getting green designations, to be completed by the end of 2011
Associations: Greater Capital Area Association of Realtors, Northern Virginia Association of Realtors, National Association of Realtors
Awards: NVAR Multimillion Dollar Sales
Greatest accomplishment in the past 12 months: Surpassing my dollar volume of sales for 2010
Area of specialty: Logan/Dupont/U Street
Highest-priced home sold: $1,600,000
Most memorable house: A home on Lake Barcroft in Falls Church, Va., an ultramodern, 5,000-square-foot home on the lake where we held art shows and various events to promote the home
Worst experience buying or selling a house: There have only been a few, thankfully. The most challenging would have been working with clients to sell their home and not being able to convince them that the home was overpriced - even after having two solid offers come in around my original pricing recommendation. Then, once the listing expired, they listed with another agent, pricing it where I originally recommended, and sold it within two weeks. It was frustrating more than anything; if only they had taken my advice from the beginning.
