I applaud the Virginia Senate and Attorney General Kenneth T. Cuccinelli II. They have started the process of adding private-property protections to the Virginia Constitution (“Stopping the government land grab,” Comment & Analysis, March 1).

It was not too long ago that in a failed attempt to increase tax revenues the city of New London, Conn., used the power of eminent domain to take land from a private citizen. It is great to see that our state is limiting the power of government in favor of the rights and property of its citizens. Our federal government should take note.
