NEW YORK (AP) - A longtime publishing executive who has worked with Kurt Vonnegut, Sue Grafton, Tina Brown and many other authors, is retiring.

The Knopf Doubleday Group announced Monday that senior editor Phyllis Grann would be stepping down effective June 9. In a statement released through Knopf, the 73-year-old Grann says it’s “time to step back.”

Grann spent much of her career with Putnam as CEO of the Putnam Berkley Group, then CEO of Penguin Putnam. She will continue to work as a freelance consultant and editor.
