No. 6 VIRGINIA TECH (10-1, 6-1 ACC) at No. 24 VIRGINIA (8-3, 5-2)

When: 3:30

Where: Scott Stadium, Charlottesville, Va.

TV/radio: Chs. 7, 2, AM-570, FM-106.7, AM-1580

Outlook: Virginia Tech leads series 50-37-1 and has won seven straight Commonwealth Cups and 11 of the last 12. Beyond in-state bragging rights, the winner also clinches the ACC’s Coastal Division and a place in the league title game against Clemson. Hokies tailback David Wilson, whose 1,442 rushing yards ranks third on the school’s single-season rushing list, scored two touchdowns in last year’s 37-7 victory over the Cavaliers. Virginia has allowed only 11 sacks this season, the lowest total in the ACC, but faces a Hokie defense that’s managed 33 sacks — second in the conference. This is the ninth time the teams have met as ranked opponents and the first time since 2007.

MARYLAND (2-9, 1-6 ACC) at N.C. STATE (6-5, 3-4)

When: 12:30

Where: Carter-Finley Stadium, Raleigh, N.C.

TV/radio: Chs. 5, 13, AM-980, FM-92.7, FM-94.3

Outlook: Maryland leads series 32-31-4 and won last year’s meeting 38-31 in College Park. The Terrapins’ miserable season reaches its conclusion while the Wolfpack will attempt to become the fourth team to become bowl eligible this season by defeating Maryland. The Terps have surrendered at least 500 yards in four of the last six games after doing so four times in the previous 10 years, and a loss by a double-digit margin would be Maryland’s seventh straight, a school record. Many things have done in the Terps, including chronic slow starts. Maryland has been outscored 104-40 in the first quarter and has produced only nine offensive touchdowns before halftime this season.
