BALTIMORE (AP) - Respiratory specialists from across Maryland are coming to Baltimore to pit their ventilator racing skills against each other _ for charity.

Six teams of specialists plan to push ventilators around an indoor track Friday afternoon. The race at the Baltimore campus of the University of Maryland will raise money for the American Respiratory Care Foundation.

The University of Maryland Medical Center is fielding two teams for the 5K race. Teams from Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, Franklin Square Hospital Center, Carroll Hospital Center, and Frederick Memorial Hospital are also participating.

Each team’s run will be timed to determine the winner. The event also features a best-dressed competition with team members and the ventilators participating in costume.
