D.C. police are investigating two overnight stabbings, including a fatal attack that took the life of a woman in Southeast.

The fatal stabbing occurred around 4:10 a.m. Wednesday on the 3200 block of 13th Street in Southeast D.C., according to the Metropolitan Police Department. A woman was stabbed multiple times and died at a local hospital, police spokesman Officer Anthony Clay said.

No further details were immediately available about the attack.

This brings the number of homicides reported in the District this year to 58.

Across the city in Northwest, a man was stabbed in the chest around 10 p.m. Tuesday but survived.

The man was approached by two men in the 1400 block of Perry Place and stabbed with an unknown object, Officer Clay said. Initial police reports sent out via Twitter about the attack indicated that the man was breathing but going in and out of consciousness when he was transported to a local hospital.

No further information was available about his condition or his attackers on Wednesday.
