Prince George’s County police are investigating the second and third homicides of the year: a fatal shooting at a Landover home and a body left by a Dumpster in Capitol Heights.

The shooting occurred Thursday night at the home of the 43-year-old victim, Brian Keith Tann, county police spokesman Cpl. Henry Tippett said.

Police responded at about 10:30 p.m. the home in the 7700 block of Bender Road, about a block from the police department’s headquarters, and found Mr. Tann inside the home and suffering from gunshot wounds.

Investigators spoke with another person who was at the home at the time and thinks an altercation between Mr. Tann and another friend led to the shooting, Cpl. Tippett said.

Police now have an arrest warrant for first-degree murder for that man but have not publicly identified him.

In the other homicide, police had less information about the discovery of a body in the Capitol Heights area Friday morning.

A man’s body was found wrapped in plastic and placed behind a Dumpster at the Woodhaven Apartments in the 1400 block of Doewood Lane, Cpl. Tippett said.

A maintenance worker at the apartment complex made the gruesome discovery around 8:30 a.m. as he went to dump trash in the receptacle.

Police do not know the cause of the man’s death nor his identity.
