D.C. Police have identified the man who was fatally shot Tuesday night in Northeast.

The victim has been identified as Howard Ricardo Sampler, 21, of Southeast, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Mr. Sampler was shot multiple times in the 1500 block of 45th Street at about 6 p.m., a police spokesman said.

Police said Wednesday that Mr. Sampler was semi-conscious and breathing when taken to a hospital but later died from his injuries, which included a gunshot wound to the chest.

They also said detectives have no information about suspects or a motive for the shooting.
