LAST DRUGS STANDING: Results from three experimental treatments for Alzheimer’s disease are expected in the coming months, the “last men standing” in a frustrating effort.

EARLY HOPE: An update on patients taking one drug, by Baxter International Inc., is expected at next week’s international Alzheimer’s meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia. The lead researcher says there are signs it slows brain shrinkage.
