A 33-year-old man was found dead inside his Waldorf home on Tuesday morning, after apparently shooting his mother and step-father.

In response to a call around 5 a.m., police found a man and woman lying on the street suffering from gunshot wounds in the 3500 block of Seagrape Court, Diane Richardson, Charles County Sheriff spokeswoman said.

The 48-year-old man and 51-year-old woman were transported to an area hospital with critical injuries. Both were stable as of Tuesday afternoon, Ms. Richardson said.

Police were informed that the shooter was in still the house he shared with the victims. They set up a perimeter and called in an emergency services team and a negotiator. There was no response to their attempted contact.

At 9:15 a.m., officers entered the house and found Shea C. Proctor dead from what police believe to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police also recovered a handgun.

Police believe there was an argument minutes before the shooting, but the nature of it is still unclear, Ms. Richardson said. Police are interviewing family, friends and the victims for more information.
