The death of a Southeast man found unconscious Thursday has been ruled a homicide, police said.

Darryl Eugene Sweet Sr., 61, was found unresponsive on Thursday when D.C. emergency services responded to the 3800 block of Minnesota Avenue Northeast for the report of an intoxicated male, officials said.

Mr. Sweet was transported to a local hospital and detectives from the homicide branch responded to investigate.It was determined Mr. Sweet was suffering from an internal head wound, police said. He was pronounced dead on Friday.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled the death homicide by blunt force trauma to the head, police said.

Detectives are investigating. Police ask anyone with information about the case to call 202-727-9099.

Police offer a reward of up to $25,000 for anyone who provides information leading to an arrest of a person or people wanted for D.C. homicides.
