A man sexually assaulted a 23-year-old Arlington woman at knifepoint on Tuesday during her jog along the Four Mile Run bike trail, according to police.

The woman told police that an unknown Hispanic man, who had passed her on the trail moments earlier, confronted her shortly before 8 p.m. and dragged her into an area off the trail to assault her.

The man fled in an unknown direction while the woman ran home and drove herself to the hospital, police said.

Authorities received a 911 call at 8:49 p.m., or about an hour after the attack.

The suspect is described as 5-foot-5 to 6 feet tall and about 140 pounds. He has a small head, a high-pitched voice, short black hair and brown eyes and spoke limited English, according to information the woman provided to police.

She told police the suspect was wearing a green T-shirt with the word “George” on it, which she believed to be from George Mason University.
