Fifty-one fathers owing more than $343,000 in child support were arrested throughout Prince George’s County in the sheriff’s Child Support Enforcement Division’s “Father’s Day Warrant Sweep” from June 12 to 14.

Deputies investigated 286 warrants and attempted to locate suspects at 136 addresses.

The suspects went to bond hearings the morning after their arrest.

“We are facilitating the collection of the money,” said Capt. Nancy Ridgely, public information officer for the Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office.

The sweep has been done annually since 2009 and is a partnership between Calvert County and Charles County sheriff’s offices, Maryland State Police and the Child Support Enforcement Division.
