The Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian’s restaurant was named “Casual Restaurant of the Year” Sunday evening by the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington.

Mitsitam Native Foods Cafe is the first museum restaurant to be nominated for the annual Rammy Awards.

The cafe has a seasonal menu representing traditional and contemporary dishes from the Northern Woodlands, Northwest Coast, Great Plains, Meso America and South America. This summer’s menu includes chilled purple potato soup, crispy rabbit, and creamed New England mussel bisque.

Bar Pilar, C.F. Folks, Hank´s Oyster Bar and Lounge, and Room 11 were also nominated for the category.
