A client at a McLean psychiatric facility has been arrested in connection with the fatal stabbing of another client at the facility Thursday morning.

Mark Shelor, 24, of Fairfax, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of 57-year-old Grady Alexander Vickers of Falls Church.

Fairfax County police said the two were on the grounds of the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Services facility Thursday morning when Mr. Shelor stabbed Mr. Vickers in the upper body. The facility treats people with severe mental illness, mild intellectual disabilities, substance use disorders and pervasive developmental disorders, according to information on its website.

Police are still investigating the circumstances that led up to the stabbing. Some evidence has been collected from the scene but police would not say whether the weapon used was among the items recovered.

County police spokesman Don Gotthardt said staff knew the two men were at the facility, which is located at 1761 Old Meadow Road.

“They were on the grounds just outside of an exterior door,” he said.
