Two nonfatal shootings were reported Tuesday night in the District following a series of five homicides in four days, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

The first shooting was reported in Anacostia in the 1300 block of Talbert Terrace Southeast. Around 6:40 p.m. police were called to the area and found a man outside who had been shot, MPD spokesman Officer Araz Alali said.

He was conscious and breathing when taken to the hospital. No update on his condition was available Wednesday.

Two men were arrested for a second shooting that occurred around 8:25 p.m. close to Fort Dupont Park in Southeast.

In that incident, a man said he was in a verbal argument with two men in the 700 block of Croissant Place and one of the men “took out a handgun and fired several rounds at him,” Officer Alali said. The man was not struck by the gunfire.

The two men were arrested and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, Officer Alali said. Police did not release their names Wednesday.
