One person was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon in a single car crash on the Beltway in Prince George’s County.

The car veered off the roadway and into a guard rail on the inner loop of the Beltway just south of Branch Avenue, said county fire and EMS department spokesman Mark Brady.

The age and gender of the crash victim were not immediately available. The person was transported to a hospital but sustained possibly life-threatening injuries.

“The prognosis is not good,” Mr. Brady said of the driver’s condition. “They were doing CPR.”

The crash occurred around 3:20 p.m., shutting down the left lane and median of the inner loop of the Beltway.
