As Indian summer suffuses the shoreline with a warm golden glow, visitors to the Delaware beaches often wish they could return to watch the sky and sea in every season.

Buyers who purchase vacation homes near the water enjoy the pleasure of spur-of-the-moment beach trips without the complication of needing a hotel reservation. Many resort-home buyers anticipate eventually retiring in their vacation spot or splitting their time between their primary residence and the beach. Family memories of beach vacations can become even more special when friends and family gather year after year in the same home.

At Kings Grant on Delaware’s Fenwick Island, contemporary-style town homes with views of the Atlantic Ocean and Little Assawoman Bay designed by the Berkus Group Architects were built in 1986. The community, protected on the north and south by federal beach preserves, includes an expansive beach, a swimming pool, a pier and a clubhouse.

Ocean City is two miles from the community, and South Bethany Beach is 11/2 miles away. Rehoboth and Dewey beaches are about 20 minutes away.

The community underwent extensive exterior renovations in spring 2011, including installation of Hardiplank siding and a new roof.

The home at 74 Kings Grant, a bay-front home, is on the market for $599,000. Condominium fees are $7,760 annually and include cable TV. Residents have assigned parking spaces.

This home has one of the best bay views of the homes within the development. The views can be enjoyed through all-new Andersen insulated windows, sliding glass doors and glass doors.

The screened porch and deck were enlarged to allow for entertaining and more space for admiring the view. A privacy wall also was added and a deck off the master bedroom was enlarged.

This three-story home is being sold furnished and includes three bedrooms, three full baths and a powder room. The main level, which has an open living and dining area with a wood-burning fireplace for warming up cool autumn and winter evenings, has ceramic tile flooring. The living area includes an armoire for entertainment equipment, a comfortable leather couch and a reading nook with a chaise lounge. A ceiling fan has been installed above the dining table.

The kitchen includes a pantry, a breakfast bar and a pass-through to the dining area. Kitchen appliances include a self-cleaning oven, a microwave, a refrigerator with an ice maker and a dishwasher.

Sliding glass doors link the living area to the screened porch and deck.

The main level also has a den or study or possible fourth bedroom with ceramic tile flooring. This level also has a powder room, laundry room and utility room.

Upstairs, the bedrooms have Pergo laminate flooring and ceiling fans. Two master suites are on the second level, each with a private full bath. One includes a private deck overlooking the bay. One of these bedrooms has two twin beds, convenient for children and extra guests.

The loft level has been enclosed and converted to a third master suite with a private full bath.
