Two men were shot and injured Sunday night in Southeast D.C. while sitting in a car, police said.

The shooting occurred around 11 p.m. in the 2400 block of Elvans Road Southeast. A 20-year-old man and a 23-year-old man were sitting in a vehicle when a person approached and began firing a gun at them, said Metropolitan Police Department spokesman Officer Anthony Clay. One of the men was shot multiple times, the other was shot once in the shoulder. Both were being treated for their injuries at a hospital. No information was available on their conditions on Monday.

Police had no description of the shooter.
