Democrats wasted no time in blaming Republicans for the Boston Marathon bombings. House Minority Whip Steny H. Hoyer immediately faulted the Republicans, since, as he said, they were the cause of the sequestration cuts that allowed the bombings to be carried out. He conveniently forgets, evidently, that President Obama proposed the sequestration, which was only considered after he backed away from a deal made with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Speaker John A. Boehner.

Following the Boston atrocities last week, Mr. Obama once again told the people he would do everything to find out who was responsible, and those individuals would receive the appropriate punishment. The victims of the bombings died, lost limbs or suffered other severe injuries. Similarly, many military personnel in Afghanistan were killed, lost limbs or were otherwise injured by improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Many of our military leaders acknowledged they had proof that Iran was contributing resources and personnel to the rebels in Afghanistan for IEDs and other weapons to kill our personnel, but Mr. Obama did nothing.

The question is, why are the lives of our young military volunteers, who are willing to sacrifice their lives to protect our country not given the same protection, respect and support as civilian victims?
