President Obama telephoned former President George W. Bush Wednesday to wish him well on his recovery from heart surgery, the White House said Thursday.

Mr. Obama told his predecessor that he was “glad to hear that the procedure went well” and that Mr. Bush is recovering, said White House press secretary Jay Carney.

Mr. Bush, 67, had a stent inserted to unblock an artery early on Tuesday. He has since gone home to recuperate.
