ANALYSIS/OPINION:

If I were celebrity chef Paula Deen, I’d tell my detractors to take a hike until they also got on the cases of President Obama, Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. , former Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter and a host of other liberals for the flowery things they said about the late Sen. Robert C. Byrd, once a Ku Klux Klan member. The extreme coverage of Ms. Deen’s unfortunate slip of the tongue is hurtful to black Americans. If Mr. Obama can forgive Byrd, the rest of us can forgive Paula Deen.
