A top Planned Parenthood official will soon become the state chair of the Georgia Democratic Party, the Associated Press reports.

Nikema Williams, vice president of public policy for Planned Parenthood Southeast, will assume leadership of the party after Mike Berlon announced he will be stepping down.

Mr. Berlon announced his resignation last week, “citing concerns by Democratic leaders that his personal issues were becoming a distraction as a major election year looms,” the AP reports.
